Professional background
John is an undergraduate student of Macquarie University and is in his final year of a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Psychology and a Bachelor of Laws. John joined our firm in 2007 as an undergraduate law student and is expected to complete his studies in 2008. John has also studied International Law at the University of Vienna.
Current Practice
John has worked within the firm's Litigation, Corporate and Commercial, and Family Law divisions since joining Champion Legal.
In recent times John has assisted in:

Instructing counsel in a matter involving the acknowledgment of debt, and irrevocable authority to act, signed by a client under duress;

The winding up of three companies on grounds of insolvency;

Advising a client in respect to claims made under the Trade Practices Act;

Advising the solicitors acting for the opposing party of their likelihood of success in attempting to find the directors of a corporation liable for tortious acts; and

Advising a client of suspected phoenix activity consisting of the breach of the directors' fiduciary and statutory duties, and the general law and statutory remedies available. Phoenix activity is most commonly associated with directors who transfer the assets of an indebted company into a new company of which they are also directors.
