Professional Background
Kirsty holds a Bachelor of Communications and Bachelor of Laws with First Class Honours from the University of Western Sydney. She completed her Honours thesis on an area of corporate governance, analysing the effects of current structures of executive remuneration and possible methods for reform. She also published an article for the Lawyers Alliance publication, Precedent, which investigated the potential impact of the new professional standards legislation.
Kirsty has also been heavily involved in LEAPS (Lawyers Encouraging and Assisting Promising Students), a mentoring program for "at risk" school students in Western Sydney.
Current Practice
Kirsty has worked within the firm's Litigation team since joining Champion Legal. She has been involved in providing advice on a number of commercial areas including trade practices, equitable disputes, unconscionable contracts, breach of contract, and tortious claims for negligence and nuisance.
Her recent work has included:

An application for the declaration of an equitable constructive trust in the NSW Supreme Court;

The defence of a negligence claim for a corporate client in connection with the construction of a major Sydney roadway;

Advising a professional client in relation to an alleged breach of fiduciary duties;

Acting for a company director in respect of alleged breach of directors’ duties, and claims for misleading and deceptive conduct;

Advising a business in respect of their rights under restrictive trade practices legislation;

Advising a corporate client in respect of a nuisance claim arising from the activities of a neighbouring business; and

Acting for a client in respect of a claim in the Supreme Court involving the alleged unconscionable conduct of a company.
